So were the live performances of the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards

On Sunday, August 30, the Video Music Awards of the MTV network took place. Artists such as Nicki Minaj, who was the first to present herself, were presented at the gala; Justin Bieber, The Weeknd, Demi Lovato, among others.

The night was filled with dramatic and hilarious moments, an appearance by Britney Spears, a lengthy speech by KanYe West, and more. Personalities such as Kim Kardashian, Bruno Mars and Miley Cyrus, hostess of the delivery, paraded on the red carpet.

Nicki Minaj opened the awards show wearing a red outfit, with a headdress that was to end with the island sound of her presentation. Minaj performed a medley of her songs ‘Trini Dem Girls’ and ‘The Night Is Young’, from her latest album ‘The Pinkprint’. At the end of the second song she was accompanied on stage by Taylor Swift and together they sang a bit of ‘Bad Blood’, Swift’s single that won the Video of the Year award.

Next, Abel Tesfaye, better known as The Weeknd, was presented, one of the revelation artists of this year, with ‘Can’t Feel My Face’, a musical theme that sounds strongly on the radio worldwide. The Canadian almost literally sets the stage on fire, just like in the song’s video.

Justin Bieber was the third artist to perform. The young idol presented his single live for the first time ‘What Do You Mean’, with the help of dancers and in the end he ended up suspended from the ceiling in the dark, pretending he could fly. He then couldn’t hold back the tears for the public’s support after all the legal messes he’s had in the last few years.

Outside the theater ‘The Orpheum’, in the center of the city of Los Angeles, United States, there was also a stage on which artists would perform. The first to use it was Pharrell with his most recent single ‘Freedom’. With the help of dancers and a light show, he managed to animate all the attendees. Then, returning to the main stage, Tori Kelly performed her song ‘Should’ve Been Us’.

21 Pilots and A$ap Rocky were in charge of adding the rock quota to the awards ceremony with a medley of the songs ‘HeavyDirtySoul’, ‘M$’ and ‘LSD’. Demi Lovato presented the summer hit in the United States ‘Cool For The Summer’, accompanied by the Australian Iggy Azalea at The Orpheum. The artist wore a corset that accentuated her figure, as well as in the video of the theme, with which she wants to silence the critics who commented on her robust figure in the past.

The penultimate performance of the night was performed by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, who presented their latest single titled ‘Downtown’ live. The song is a collaboration with Eric Nally, Melle Mel, Kool Moe Dee, Grandmaster Caz and with it they want to emulate the success they achieved in 2012 with Thrift Shop.

Miley Cyrus, hostess of the Video Music Awards, was in charge of closing the night with a presentation that had not been announced. In the course of it, she invited a large number of ‘Drag Queens’ to the stage so that they sang with her the lyrics of ‘Dooo It’, unpublished song -until last- which contained lyrics like “Yes, I smoke marijuana, yes, I love peace but I don’t care, I’m not a hippie”. At the end of her performance, Cyrus announced that her new album “Miley Cyrus and Her Dead Petz” could be downloaded immediately for free.

In social networks, many of the spectators thought that although the awards ceremony ceased to be the great event that it was in the past two decades, it was quite entertaining compared to that of recent years.
