midnights, which features songwriter and producer Jack Antonoff, broke the Spotify record for the most streams in a single day for an album: 228 million streams. In addition, in the first five days, the equivalent of 1.4 million units of the album were sold (a record that has only been surpassed by the album 25 of Adele).

In November 2022, Taylor made history by occupying the top ten positions on the list Billboard Hot 100 with songs from his latest album. It is one of the most important charts in the United States and to date no artist had managed to occupy all the top ten positions.

The way to recover your songs

Taylor Swift’s career began when she was very young. In 2005, at just 16 years old, she signed a 13-year deal with Big Machine Records, run by Scott Borchetta. Thanks to this contract, the singer was able to publish her first album, titled taylor swift, and his five subsequent albums Fearless, Speak Now, Red, 1989 Y Reputation.

In 2018 the contract with Big Machine Records expired and Swift decided to bet on another music producer. This decision did not please her label, which tried to retain her by denying her the rights to the original recordings of her first six albums. In other words, Swift lost ownership of her own songs.

That same year, producer Scooter Braun bought Big Machine Records for $330 million. In this way, Braun took control of all company copyrighted songs, videos and artwork, becoming the legal owner of Taylor Swift’s first six albums.

Her own songs were no longer legally owned by her, so the singer could not use them in performances, award galas or in her own documentary. However, she still owned the copyright to all of her songs. That’s why in 2019 she announced that she would re-record her first six albums to gain full ownership over them.

The first reissues of his studio albums were released last year: Fearless (Taylor’s Version) was published in April 2021 and Red (Taylor’s Version) in November 2021. Taylor Swift once again owns many of the songs she wrote years ago.

The sale of tickets for his tour collapses the web

Last week, the digital ticket sales company Ticketmaster put the tickets for the world tour on sale (in pre-sale). The Eras Tour, which will begin in the United States next year. The singer managed to sell around two million tickets through this platform in just one day, breaking the company’s record.

The problem is that the Ticketmaster system collapsed due to the number of people who accessed the website: about 3.5 million people registered to buy tickets. As a consequence, Ticketmaster has announced that it is preemptively canceling the official sale.

The Eras Tour it will begin in March 2023 and, at the moment, 52 concerts are scheduled in large stadiums throughout the United States. Despite the number of dates announced, not all swifties (as the singer’s fans are known) managed to buy a ticket on the day of the presale.

The collapse of the website and the high ticket prices (ranging from $49 to $449 for regular tickets and exceeding $1,000 for VIP tickets) have caused anger and disappointment among fans. And even from some American politicians, who have publicly denounced Ticketmaster for monopoly.

In 2011, Ticketmaster merged with LiveNation, another company that also sold tickets online. Since then, Ticketmaster has hardly any competitors in the market and is responsible for selling the majority of show tickets.
