The Asociación Danzas Guadalupanas Unidas por Durango, presented last Sunday the 12th Dance Exhibition, in which around 21 local groups from various neighborhoods participated, with the Plaza de Armas as the stage.

13 years ago the idea of ​​bringing together different dances to hold a contest was born, which three years after its creation changed its concept and was positioned as an exhibition, in order to summon some groups belonging to subdivisions and colonies, same as in At first they were few and they have increased over the years, reaching up to 45 dances in one presentation. In this way, the Asociación Danzas Guadalupanas Unidas por Durango was created, chaired by Aarón Aguilar Salazar.

This dance show has been carried out in the IV Centenario square, in the sanctuary, in the founders square, and in recent years in the main square, since it is located in front of the minor basilica cathedral and this has a great meaning for Matachines.

“Granada”, “Perpetual Help”, “Reunion”, “Guadalupana de Ignacio Allende”, “Sureña”, “Sacred Heart of Jesus”, “Roots of my land”, “Tajín Indians”, “Faith and Hope Guadalupana” “Valle de Guadalupe”, “Guadalupanos Warriors”, “Milagros”, “Guadalupana Divino Niño Jesús”, “Red Skins of Santa Fé”, “Navajos”, “San Judas”, “Renegades”, “Apaches”, “Tonantzin” and “Unión Guadalupana” are some of the dances that joined this project.

Through this activity that began at 3:00 p.m. and ended at 11:00 p.m., a cultural tradition that is part of our identity was revived.

On Wednesday, December 1, at 4:00 p.m., the Gabriela Mistral conversation: poetry and education will be presented, from the Patio Octavio Paz of the Library of Mexico, with the participation of Pedro Pablo Zegers; the general director of Libraries, Rodrigo Borja Torres, and the director of the libraries of Mexico and José Vasconcelos, José Mariano Leyva Pérez Gay.
