This Monday, January 10, a commission from the National Assembly of Ecuador arrived in the country to deliver a report to the authorities on the case of Alex Saab. According to local media, the politicians who came to the country to show some new findings are: Fernando Villavicencio, Ana Belén Cordero, Bruno Segovia and Pedro Velasco. The document will be revealed to President Iván Duque, the Prosecutor’s Office and the Colombian Congress on Wednesday, January 12, and for now some details that had not been mentioned before have been released.

According to what was pointed out a few days ago by Semana magazine, the medium that had access to the document, the information that has been prepared by the National Assembly of Ecuador would not only account for the network of corruption and money laundering that Saab and his partner Álvaro Pulido, who have connections in Panama, Ecuador, Venezuela and Colombia; it also mentions political heavyweights in South America.

In the case of Colombia, as confirmed by Fernando Villavicencio, president of the Ecuadorian Oversight Commission, political activist and journalist, in an interview with W Radio in the document involves the former president and Nobel Peace Prize winner, Juan Manuel Santos.

“It is suspicious that the Santos government sent Alex Saab as a delegate from the Colombian state as a representative of a contract with the Venezuelan government for the export of prefabricated houses. That contract was not executed from Colombia, but from Ecuador. What we can warn is that he facilitated a simulated contract so that two dark characters such as Álvaro Pulido and Saab can participate“Villavicencio wrote to the Colombian station.

In addition, he confirmed once again that there is evidence linking former senator Piedad Córdoba with the businessman from Barranquilla, despite the fact that on multiple occasions politics has denied having had a relationship with Saab.

Details of the flights of Alex Saab and Álvaro Pulido are revealed, in one of the Saab planes Piedad Córdoba and her son enter Quito and had an American registration, Mrs. Piedad Córdoba cannot deny their friendship”Added Fernando Villavicencio.

It is important to mention that said document, It consists of 125 pages and would have information that would give clarity to the authorities of how Alex Saab, his partner Álvaro Pulido, through a business holding around the company Fondo Global de Construcciones (Foglocons), started a network, on November 28, 2011, to sign a strategic agreement between Venezuela and Colombia, with which the Chavista regime aimed to provide prefabricated homes to thousands of families in Venezuela, which turned out to be one of the largest corruption schemes in the hemisphere south of the American continent.

In this sense, it is believed that Saab would have used the compensation system of the countries of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of America (ALBA) to launder money through payment for fictitious or undervalued exports between Ecuador and Venezuela.

Saab’s corruption scheme would have helped launder USD 2 billion between the governments of Hugo Chávez and Rafael Correa. The system would have worked like this, according to the Investigative Journalism portal, the money that entered the Central Bank of Venezuela as payment to Ecuadorian exporters was transformed into “Sucres” exponentially multiplying the original value in dollars.

Then those “sucres” were transferred without international supervision to the Central Bank of Ecuador, which transformed them back into dollars. After that conversion, the Central Bank of Ecuador deposited the money in the accounts of the exporters, who sent empty containers to Venezuela and distributed the money among the officials involved in operations with tax havens.
