Future Congress: 4 Nobel Prizes and 80 experts will take the 11th version. – Constitutional Journal

Learning about the pandemic will be the backdrop for the eleventh version of the Future Congress that will take place between January 17 and 21. “Learning to live together” was the motto chosen this time on the basis of which four Nobel Prize winners and around 80 of the most important personalities in science, humanities and art will be inspired.

Yesterday the guest list was launched, when the president of the Commission for Future Challenges, Science, Technology and Innovation, Guido Girardi, intervened; the undersecretary of Sciences, Carolina Torrealba; the executive president of the Encuentros del Futuro Foundation, Daniel Fernández; and the conventional constituent and microbiologist Cristina Dorador. The members of the aforementioned parliamentary instance also attended: Senators Carolina Goic and Francisco Chahuán.

Senator Girardi stated that “a different world is coming, the interesting thing is that humans create artificial intelligence but create a world that they do not control. The obsolescence of us and the institutions is what explains the current crisis. At the congress we will talk about Learning to Live Together, how to face challenges, how we have to change our way of relating to nature and the rest of living beings, how to change our development models to live in a different way ”.

Participants

Great personalities will parade through the main stage of Future Congress such as the winner of the Nobel Prize in Economics 2019, Esther Duflo, who was recognized for her studies on inequality within developing countries, and who currently serves as director of the Department of Economics. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Outstanding researchers will be present whose mission will be to problematize the next challenges of Artificial Intelligence. Among them stands out the specialist in technologies, Nicolás Mialhe, co-founder of “The Future Society”, and member of several international institutions dedicated to the ethical development of Artificial Intelligence, as well as social welfare based on the application of this technology. Joining him will also be Timnit Gebru, a computer scientist and leader in research on ethics and algorithmic biases in AI.

On the pandemic and how to detect infectious foci, the participation of the prominent Dr. Anthony Fauci; Director of the US National Institute of Allergies and Infectious Diseases and Health Advisor to the White House; Tedros Adhanom, director general of the World Health Organization, and Gonzalo Moratorio, Uruguayan virologist who created one of the first tests to detect the presence of COVID-19 in the body.

Ko Barret, an expert in climate policy and vice president of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), together with the marine biologist and one of the world’s leading specialists in studies of maritime resources, Daniel Pauly, will share their views on the new discoveries around the climate crisis, as well as the complex scenario facing marine biodiversity.

The outstanding ones will attend: Teresa Paneque, astronomer and science communicator; Patricia Muñoz, Ombudsman for Children, and the current president of the Constitutional Convention, Elisa Loncon.

Participation

For the first time, the Future Congress will implement virtual rooms where attendees and exhibitors will have the opportunity to discuss and deepen on specific issues, which often have no place during the talks. The public will have a private space to interact with them and discuss doubts they have on the subject just presented.

On the last day of this version of the Future Congress, “Digitized: Hack the binary” will be held. This event, co-organized by Congreso Futuro together with Nuestra Voz, BHP Foundation, and sponsored by the Ministry of Science, will be a space that will seek to contribute to public discussion and convene wills to promote the active participation of both women and diverse groups through digital.

As in previous years, Future Congress will carry out parallel activities in regions to decentralize science and knowledge. This eleventh version will be present in 10 regions, from Antofagasta to Magallanes.
