The Secretary of the Interior, Adán Augusto López, responded to Marcelo Ebrard’s new campaign to keep in touch with the public, assuring that he does answer the messages sent by the population.
“I do answer, here is the personal number, send me a message and put me to the test… we can only talk about politics on Sundays… ask whatever you want,” said the official, giving his phone to the media.

The answer occurs this same Monday that Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard announced a WhatsApp number that he will use to keep in touch with the population, heading for the 2024 presidential elections.
“5515025360 my what’s up to be communicated. If they want to send a message, I’ll read them,” she said through her Twitter account.
When questioned about Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard’s statements about being uncovered and being a “recognized corcholata”, the head of government, Claudia Sheinbaum, pointed out that the secretary is within his rights.
“He is within his rights, no comment in particular. To the president, thank him that he has mentioned us on different occasions and it will depend at the time what the survey is going to plan, ”he said.
At a press conference, he pointed out that the unity of the transformation movement will always be sought above all else.
Ebrard tests positive for COVID
This same Monday, Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard reported that he tested positive for COVID-19, one day after the federal official was on tour to promote his aspirations for Morena’s presidential candidacy in 2024.
Ebrard spoke about the issue on Twitter. In his message, he said that he has cold symptoms with no signs of concern.
In my test today I came out positive for COVID-19. So I will be working from home. I feel like when you get a cold, nothing to worry about. Today I was not in the Security Cabinet. I am informing you.

Yesterday, in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Ebrard led an act with supporters. In front of them, he said that he is “uncovered” and that will launch to defend their aspirations to compete for the Presidency of the Republic in 2024.
Last week, the head of government of Mexico City, Claudia Sheinbaum, also a candidate for the Presidency of the Republic, tested positive for COVID-19. She remains in isolation and this Monday she said that she hopes to resume her regular activities soon.
After Ebrard’s contagion became known, Sheinbaum sent him a message on Twitter to wish him recovery.
Dear @m_ebrard We wish you a speedy recovery. https://t.co/FoF7HWkFmY

On June 12, both coincided during a rally in Toluca, State of Mexico, to call for Morena’s unit. There also participated another presidential candidate, the Secretary of the Interior, Adán Augusto López.
President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has said that Morena militants who want the candidacy are free to act, but if they are officials they must first fulfill their responsibilities.
López Obrador has included the Secretaries of Economy, Tatiana Clouthier, and Energy, Rocío Nahle, in the list of possible presidential candidates. Another candidate is the leader of Morena in the Senate, Ricardo Monreal.
