“Over the next five years, this city will be a key hub for digital transformation in southern Europe.” With these words, the Prime Minister Pedro Sanchezhas declared inaugurated this June 14 the DES – Digital Enterprise Show 2022 In Malaga.
They have also been in the session, the president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno; the mayor of Malaga, Francis of the Tower; and the president of the Diputación de Málaga, Jose Francisco Salado. no one wanted miss the biggest technology event in Europe after the Mobile World Congress. This is the first edition to be held in Malaga, until this Thursday the 16th, after five years in Madrid.
More than 19,000 million euros in the coming years
During his speech, Sánchez highlighted the opportunity that the digital transformation, together with the energy transformation, represents for the modernization of Spain and how “the future of the European project will depend, to a large extent, on our ability to carry out both transformations towards a much fairer, more inclusive and more sustainable model from an environmental point of view”.
In this sense, the President of the Government has pointed out that the Executive will allocate more than 19,000 million euros in the coming years to promote digital transformation and attract investment from technology companies in innovative digital infrastructures and applications. “We are fully aware of the historic opportunity presented by the digital transformation and the ecological transition to reindustrialize our country. That is why we are taking advantage of European funds to be leaders”, he maintained, referring to sectors such as the electric and connected vehicle, the production of chips and semiconductors, the agri-food industry, green hydrogen, or cutting-edge health.
Pedro Sanchez has made these statements after holding a private meeting with the former president of the United States, Barack Obama. The conversation of the former president and Nobel Peace Prize winner in 2009 brought together a thousand executives from large international technology corporations who have heard first-hand how to face the economic, geopolitical, digital and social challenges, such as the climate crisis, that have recently burst into our society.
Andalusian institutions turn to DES2022
Juanma Moreno, President of the Junta de Andalucía has expressed his satisfaction with the celebration in Malaga of an international event of such relevance as DES2022 and has reiterated the commitment of the community to take advantage of all the opportunities offered by the technological revolution. “Andalusia is not willing to lose a single opportunity for the future. Technology offers us a new future, which we want to support from the Andalusian administration with more and better training to adapt to these new challenges”, he stated.
For his part, the mayor of Malaga, Francis of the Towerhas underlined that “DES is an event fully aligned with the city’s strategy in its positioning as a technological and innovative enclave, which is also an example of public-private collaboration to promote the development of the driving sectors of the new economy”.
“Malaga is ideal for it. We have created and continue to create an ecosystem for innovation and attracting talent that makes it a cutting-edge city and a pole of attraction for investing, working and living. The city is committed to the SDGs and sustainability and, for this reason, it has recalled, it is working on Malaga’s candidacy to host in 2027 the International Exhibition ‘The urban era: towards a sustainable city’, De la Torre indicated.
Finally, the president of the Diputación de Málaga, Joseph Francis Salado has underlined that the capital of Malaga “wants to exercise cooperative leadership in the digital revolution that radiates to the rest of Andalusia and southern Europe”.
And along these lines, he recognized that “DES-Digital Enterprise Show is the ideal platform to show the Malaga that we are and the one that we want to be: international, innovative and eager to continue learning and growing”. In this sense, he has highlighted the work that the institutions are carrying out:
“At Turismo Costa del Sol we are pioneers in the analysis of Big Data and the use of Artificial Intelligence to increasingly better measure the real-time demand of our markets and target more precisely the type of tourist we want to visit us. And, most importantly, we share all this information with companies on the Costa del Sol, so that they can use it in their businesses. We want to do the same with the agri-food industry, promoting the digitization of family businesses, helping them to better sell their products in a global market,” Salado said.
