The Nobel Prize Museum, although small in size, has a vast content where the work of freedom fighters, writers and scientists who contributed to greater well-being are made known through resources such as videos, donated objects and guided tours to humanity. Swedish inventor and industrialist Alfred Nobel (1833-1896) had a clear vision of the prize he created. In his will he wrote that he wanted to reward those who had “conferred the greatest benefit on mankind.” The Nobel Prize and the laureates’ stories are the basis for a wide range of public outreach activities that show how history can be learned to understand the world and influence the future. The traveling exhibitions of this institution have traveled all over the world. The museum has worked with teachers and students, as education and training is one of the cornerstones of the museum.

The main mission of the Nobel Foundation is to manage the inventor’s fortune so as to ensure a secure financial position for the Nobel Prize in the long term and that the institutions that award the award have guaranteed the independence of their work of selecting the winners. In his last wills Alfred Nobel appointed the institutions he wanted to be in charge of the election of candidates: The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, the Karolinska Institute, the Swedish Academy, the Committee of the Norwegian Parliament and the National Bank of Sweden.
