The great absentee The mayor of Mazatlán, Luis Guillermo Benítez Torres, was the great absentee in the tour of the president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, who launched the Internet para Todos program, from Mazatlán, at the facilities of the José Aceves Pozos thermoelectric plant, of the Federal Electricity Commission. Apparently he was not invited because at no time was he mentioned, despite the fact that he is the highest authority of the municipality in which the president of Mexico (the creator of the National Regeneration Movement) and the governor of Sinaloa (also from Moreno) were on tour yesterday of work. In the morning, the “Chemist” Benítez, the morenista mayor of Mazatlán, went to a well-known hotel in the golden zone where AMLO spent the night, supposedly to welcome him, but the country’s president arrived on Saturday and only Governor Rubén was there. Rocha Moya and also the former president of the DIF and former partner of Benítez, Gabriela Peña Chico.
We do not know why the “Chemist” Benítez was not required to this important event. We can only imagine that it was a kind of punishment, which we are not aware of. But why didn’t they invite him if he was in Mazatlan? He was not on one of his famous promotion trips, or a meeting that was more important than AMLO and Rocha’s visit to his municipality. It is not necessary to remember the series of scandals in which the mayor of Mazatlán has been involved, and which have already earned him several complaints before the Superior Audit Office of the State of Sinaloa, before the State Prosecutor’s Office or before instances or control bodies or auditors right here in the town. And there are other people who threaten to file more complaints, all because of the mega-expenses that the administration led by Benítez Torres has made, and no matter how much he says that they take care of the town’s resources, it seems quite the opposite, by hiring street lamps that cost 187,000 pesos each (an issue in which he is already putting in reverse), and other little things, such as millions spent on monuments, roundabouts, trips and donations and other expenses for a famous Nobel Prize winner, when in the city of Mazatlan the citizens get hoarse from pointing out the problems of water and drainage leaks, streets and avenues that are unpaved or full of potholes, problems with lighting at night in neighborhoods (not in tourist areas where lamps are even piled up), garbage collection poor litter, among other complaints. It seems that the conviction that Benítez has had of being able to do what he wants, because it is already taking its toll on him. And the voices are growing calling for him to be prosecuted.
Government led by Andrés Manuel López Obrador, so much so that he criticized his predecessors, and they do the same thing: they invite the media to broadcast their programs, but they almost lock them in a cage, they admit them almost two hours before the event and at At the end they do not let them out until the president and his entourage leave, to avoid being asked uncomfortable questions, such as the outbreaks of violence in the country, and the officials or ‘corchocolates’ who are already campaigning for 2024.
