2009.- THE NOBEL PRIZE WOLE SOYINKA IN ALMERIA

1975.- GALVEZ DEFEATS URTAIN IN A GREAT FIGHT
The boxer from Almería, Jose Antonio Gálvez, fought up to five times with the late Jose Manuel Ibar “Urtain”. The final balance was one victory, one null fight and three defeats. The first time and with an impressive full in the bullring of Almería, was on May 17, 1975 where the countryman beat the “morrosko” of Cestona on points.
2002.- ESTABLISHED THE SCIENCE-TECHNOLOGY PARK OF ALMERIA
The PITA, a space for innovative companies, technology centers and public and private research entities, located in the neighborhood of El Alquián, next to the Autovía del Mediterráneo, five kilometers from the airport, eight from the University and three from the area residential area of El Toyo. 1983.-KILLS HIS WIFE AND BURIES HER IN THE GARDEN

2003.-TWO ALMERIENS ARRESTED WITH COCAINE IN LONDON VICTIMS OF A TRAP
Two residents of the Vélez Rubio area were arrested by agents of the London Narcotics Unit when seventy-five kilos of cocaine were seized. The case was not sufficiently clear and it was pointed out that the two boys could have been victims of a trap set by some South American drug traffickers using them as “mules” to get the drug out of the country.
2009.- CLOSED FOR REFORMS THE CENTRAL MARKET
The Central Market of Almería closes its doors for the start of its remodeling works, which had an initial budget of fifteen million euros. In the enclosure, water leaks were already taking place that endangered the structure, reopening completely renovated in January 2012. The Mercado Central de Abastos de Almería is an emblematic work of the municipal architect Trinidad Cuartara Cassinello. 1990.-A MARRIAGE DIES IN A FIRE IN LA CAÑADA
A married couple tragically died when their farmhouse caught fire in La Cañada de San Urbano. The fire was declared due to a short circuit or overheating of a plug in the main room of the house. When the firefighters arrived, they could do nothing to save their lives. The unfortunate couple died of suffocation and burned by the flames that completely destroyed the house.
1957.- LOPEZ JEREZ IS BORN THE WONDERFUL CHILD OF BOXING IN ALMERIEN
Militating in the category of super light weights in 1985 in Las Palmas de Gran Canarias, he was emphatically proclaimed champion of Spain. On this same evening he reaches this wounded boxer Young Pascual in the flyweights. After approving in 1982 his admission to the Almería Local Police academy, he maintained this gold-plated champion of Spain. Years later he entered the University for those over 25 years of age and began a Law degree, although he continues to experience boxing in his capacity as trainer and technician.
1914.- THE CRIME OF THE IRASCIBLE BROTHER-IN-LAW

When they were in Calle Senés, the man suddenly pulled an old pistol from the bottom of the animal’s water holes and shot his sister-in-law at close range. He told the Civil Guard that he looked at him with bad eyes.
