The permanent ethological state

Keep in mind at all times the behavior of animals outside the laboratory, in their natural environment or in their habitat; observe it, record it, communicate it, transfer it to other situations, compare it with its own species or with others, deduce learning and knowledge, draw conclusions, theorize, link it with art, culture, human beings, is what I will call throughout this article as permanent ethological state.

The ethology (from the Greekethos (ηθος), custom, conduct or way of doing things; Y logos (λóγος), science or knowledge) is the science in charge of the study of animal behavior, although it is necessary to mention that it also covers human behavior.

To differentiate the ethology dedicated to the study of animals with the one oriented to the investigation of human behavior, some specialists call the second as “human ethology”while they are also animals, rational, but ultimately animals.

Having specified the above, I will refer as ethology in this article to the one dedicated to the study of animals and I will reflect on how it is that whoever observes draws conclusions through which they can establish bridges between it and human behavior.

Now, to develop my contributions around the permanent ethological state, I turn to what at the time were my contributions regarding the permanent poetic statein order to deduce a series of common points that allow advancing in the logical development of what I try to deal with here.

in my article What is the permanent poetic state? (https://bit.ly/3VmslA7)After a series of analyzes and reflections, I referred to it as:

Looking at the complex reality at all times from poetry, arriving at the conclusion that there is no subject or circumstance that cannot be addressed from it…

I maintain that the permanent poetic state refers to a philosophical and aesthetic attitude facing reality against the light with temporality, based on neuroscience, as has been well developed in multiple articles Enrique Canchola Martinezexpert in neural issues.

The same thing happens with the permanent ethological state.

The person who is in a permanent ethological state embodies a philosophical and scientific attitude by which his “world” revolves around the “world of animals”, within which a very important space is their behavior.

At first glance, all those scenes that I have seen of the work carried out by Sir David Frederick Attenborough Y Jane Goodall.

I cannot avoid the mental images that the work of Konrad Zacharias Lorenz, Austrian zoologist, ethologist and ornithologist who won the Nobel Prize in Medicine in 1973 and is considered one of the founders of modern ethology.

I observe myself, I try to become aware of how the creation of a research and proposal protocol (2001 to 2002. CIPAE) marked me, through which people acquire knowledge, develop behaviors and appropriate values from the coexistence with animals or, at least, the observation of multimedia ethological content.

As I write these lines, I realize my childhood, my participation in herding goats and taking care of pigs that my mother raised as part of the family economy.

I still remember the talks with my mother about the traits of a pregnant goat, a calf with indigestion, or the risks of a male ready to show his leadership.

I see how that marked me in my training, but it had gone unnoticed until I had to go back again and again in my ethological analyzes from a vision of permanent education. In those memories intertwined with theoretical frameworks, I find the foundation of what I now address.

The permanent ethological state is possible thanks to an attitude of permanent education, which lays the foundations for a holistic and systemic vision of everything that surrounds us.

Yes, a philosophical attitude in which everything is linked to everything, which also has as a background -following the model of the multiple intelligences of howard gardner (Scraton, Pennsylvania, United States. 1943)– the naturalistic intelligence related to the inter and intrapersonal intelligences.

Let’s see, according to Gardner, naturalistic intelligence is present in environmentalists, biologists, zoologists, botanists, paleontologists, agronomists, foresters, veterinarians and all those people linked to the study or involved with animal life or nature, in such a way that they establish relationships and studies between groups or species of flora and fauna, whose field of action/observation is the natural world.

The permanent ethological state is a worldview resulting from a philosophical attitude of life, assumed as a complex network of relationships where everything is linked to everything and there is an interdependence that determines the singularities.

The permanent ethological state transfers the knowledge and knowledge of ethology to the fields of education, culture, art, and human coexistence.

All of the above have been around since ancient times, if not How could we explain the inseparable presence of animals in symbolism, mythology and ancient legends?

Impossible to think about the anthropological and sociological scaffolding of the different cultures without the presence in their roots of felines, birds, reptiles, fish, insects and their amalgamation with the first peoples, as well as their later influence as great referents of beliefs.

well points it out Ariana Magana in the foreword he wrote for Ethology and Character (Salvador Calva Morales. UMA. 2022):

It seems that all, absolutely all the mysteries that man has wanted to unravel, lead him in one way or another to the animal kingdom. It is not for less, they inhabited the earth before us.

Can you imagine the marketing absent from the symbolism, strength, nobility and tenderness of animals?

What would the arts be if they kept animals out of creations?

All this is so evident that what is surprising is that we are not aware of it.

The investigations continue, the contributions too, for this reason we cannot stay away from these analyzes that provide elements to aspire to be more humane and coexist peacefully with each other and with the environment.

Related to what I have discussed here, I am not deprived of expressing my joy at coordinating the editorial work in the series. Ethology and Characterinside of Salvador Calva Morales Library Collection, because it has given me the opportunity to live closely with the creator of said literary feat, who I will deal with in another article, because he is a being energized by two permanent states, the poetic and the ethological.

I’ll deal with it later.
