It is a watch signed Purnell, the Swiss luxury watchmaker who has signed a partnership with the weekly France Football for three years.

On the sidelines of the ceremony which will take place Monday evening November 29 at the Théâtre du Châtelet, Purnell said that the watch in question would be “unique with a model specially designed and designated for this event”. Unveiled by the watchmaker, the watch is made in 18-carat pink gold, with a black strap, and reveals a small Golden Ball bearing the France Football logo, just below the hands. In addition, the button that allows you to set the time is shaped like a small balloon created especially for the occasion.

50 pieces per year

In unveiling the model, Purnell believes that this watch refers to the values ​​that the winner represents, such as performance, talent, fair play and durability. It is also a way for the brand to promote its know-how a little more, as explained, on November 22, the CEO Maurizio Mazzocchi in Point : “The Golden Ball in football is what the Oscars or the Palme d’Or are for the cinema: the supreme reward”, he said before admitting that, as “football is the most popular sport of world, and […] the Golden Ball is the most prestigious distinction “, the Swiss brand had decided to join” officially with this event of planetary significance “.

Fairly recent, the Purnell brand moved to Geneva in 2020, and specializes in tourbillon watches. It only produces about fifty copies per year. If the watchmaker has a habit of “offering only ultra-sophisticated models”, for this special edition it was above all necessary to create a model “expressing the passion for football”. The small ball spins entirely on itself as if a player had kicked in and was going into a goal. The names of the two winners will also be inscribed on the watch. Last February, Capital drew up a panel of ten watches valued between 200,000 and over one million euros. The Escape IIS Treasure Baguette Rainbow model, with a 44-millimeter rose gold case, 273 diamonds, 41 baguette-cut sapphires, rubies and tsavorites, was estimated at more than 1.5 million euros.
