Lozère: spotlight on the 35th international film festival of Vébron

For this new edition, which will take place from July 19 to 23, 38 films are in competition.

Like many cultural events, the Vébron International Film Festival has had to face two years of health crisis. For its 35th edition, which will take place from Tuesday July 19 to Saturday July 23, it returns to a more traditional format. “In 2020, the festival was dematerialized, explains Alain Argilier, one of the founders of Écran Cévenol, the association in charge of the event. The following year, it was done face-to-face, but with fewer people. We didn’t communicate much about it.”

A ceremony on July 19, at 9 p.m.

To kick off the festival as it should, an opening ceremony will take place on Tuesday, July 19, at 9 p.m., at the temple. Many personalities will also be present, such as the actor Ambroise Michel, who will be the master of ceremonies. But also Lionnel Astier, actor and sponsor of the festival and finally the actor Philippe du Janerand. The members of the jury will also be on site.

A little earlier in the afternoon, at 2:30 p.m., screenings of short films, which were shot in Vébron and Lozère, will be presented to the public. There will be the following films: The Sisyphs by Nils Martin Resonances by Fanny Begoin Do not go to Lozère, Lozère lost hole? by Eric Debenne.

Six volunteers, all big movie fans, made the selection by rating the films.”

Finally, of the 38 films, only five will be rewarded during the festival. Among the distinctions, we find the grand prize of the festival, “It’s a bit like our Palme d’Or”, confides Alain Argilier. There will also be the public prize. Regarding the other three, they will be defined during the event. It could very well be a prize for best actor, best costume, best music, etc. The public will appreciate when the time comes.

Finally, on the sidelines of this festival, screenings of major films are also offered (the complete program can be found on the site: festivalvebron.fr/). Good viewing.
