The 29th edition of the European Film Weeks opened on Wednesday evening at the Lutetia cinema in Casablanca, with the screening of the Swedish film “Without Filter”, by director Ruben Östlund, in the presence of an audience of personalities from various walks of life. . Taking a satirical look at the consumer society, “Sans Filtre” deals with the class struggle using fierce and uncompromising humor.
The film follows Carl and Yaya, a couple of models and influencers, who are invited on a yacht for a luxury cruise right after Fashion Week. While the crew takes great care of the vacationers, the captain refuses to leave his cabin as the famous gala dinner approaches. Events take an unexpected turn and the balance of power is reversed when a storm rises and endangers the comfort of the passengers.
Last May, the Swedish director Ruben Östlund won the Palme d’or at the Cannes Film Festival for the second time after that obtained for “The Square” in 2017, and thus joined the very closed club of filmmakers with double palms.

“Through cinema, we have a way to promote peace and freedom, by confronting our views of the world to better understand it,” she continued, expressing the wish that the festival will be an open window on culture. The 29th edition of the European Film Weeks is being held in Morocco from December 7 to 21 in four Moroccan cities, with a selection of the greatest European auteur films of the year on view, with the Palme d’or du Cannes Film Festival opening.
