SPHERE acquires film distributor MK2 | MILE END joining SPHERE FILMS

Sphere, a Canadian leader in the creation, adaptation, production and distribution of television and film content, is pleased to announce the acquisition of MK2 | MILE END, a major film distributor in Quebec and Canada. MK2 | MILE END is now part of Sphere Films and Charles Tremblay is named president of the division.

Sphère is already active in the international film distribution sector through its brand Sphère Films (formerly WaZabi Films). The team already in place, made up of Anick Poirier and Lorne Price, will continue to ensure successful sales of feature films on the international market.

Founded in 2017 by Charles Tremblay, MK2 l MILE END has since distinguished itself by distributing the best of Canadian and international cinema to Canadian audiences. The Montreal-based company recently announced that its business in English Canada is expanding with the hiring of established professionals to lead its development.

The company’s successes include numerous award-winning films, including Parasite by Bong Joon-ho, Palme d’or and Oscar for best film, Portrait of a young girl on fire by Céline Sciamma, Honeyland, the first documentary to receive two Oscar nominations and the Quebec films It was raining birds by Louise Archambault and Maria Chapdelaine by Sébastien Pilote.
