Stranger Things, Shang-Chi, The Princess… the films and series to watch in streaming this week – CNET France

Streaming services such as Disney+, Canal+, Netflix, and Amazon Prime Video are keeping up the pace at the start of summer, and continue to complete their catalogs with new series and new quality films. To help you, CNET France offers you its selection of best new streaming of the week of June 27, 2022.

This week, we recommend the series Stranger Things 4 Volume 2 and The Terminal Listand movies Princess, Parasiteand Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings.

Stranger Things season 4 volume 2 (Netflix)

In the (unlikely) case you missed this audiovisual nugget, Stranger Things tells the adventures of a group of slightly geek children from the 80s, who have gone in search of their friend, who has disappeared under strange conditions. Their quest will lead them to meet a little girl with supernatural powers and face the many dangers of their mysterious little town of Hawkins, Indiana.

Released on May 27, the first 7 episodes were a public and critical success, imposing this season 4 as the very best of the show. More ambitions, more ideas, more challenges and drama… Volume 2, which therefore includes the last two episodes of the season, promises to be strong in emotions and tension, with in particular a direct confrontation with the fearsome Vecna. The serial event of the week, the month and maybe even the year 2022. Starting July 1 on Netflix.

The Princess (Disney+)

When a pretty princess with a strong character refuses to marry the cruel sociopath to whom she is betrothed against her will, her suitor locks her in an isolated tower of the castle. Faced with this vindictive and despised man who never ceases to seek to usurp the paternal throne, she will have to find radical solutions to not only protect her family and herself, but also save all the inhabitants of the castle…

In the spirit of the movies Rebel and Rapunzel, The Princess offers a model rereading of the fairy tale, where the passive bride of the story finds herself here in charge of saving her family and the whole kingdom at the same time. It promises humor, action and jubilant fight, halfway between crystal trap and The Raid. From July 1 on Disney+.

The Terminal List (Prime Video)

James Reece is a Navy SEAL who survived an ambush against his regiment during a secret mission. Reece returns home, to his family, with the painful memory of this event in mind and wonders about his responsibility for this tragedy. But as new evidence emerges, he discovers that a dark organization is working against him and endangering his own life and those he loves…

Based on a bestselling novel by former Navy Seal Jack Carr, The Terminal List announces a mixture of political intrigues with drawers and vitaminized action scenes in the tradition of a Tom Clancy, all that in particular directed by Antoine Fuqua (Training Day, The Equalizer). The opportunity also to see Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy, Jurassic World) in a more serious and dramatic role, alongside a high quality cast: Taylor Kitsch, Constance Wu, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Riley Keough… From July 1 on Amazon Prime Video.

Parasite (Prime Video)

Ki-taek’s entire family is out of work, and takes a keen interest in the lifestyle of the wealthy Park family. One day, their son manages to get recommended to give private English lessons to the Parks. This is the beginning of an uncontrollable spiral, from which no one will truly come out unscathed…

Parasite is obvious in this selection: Palme d’Or 2019 and multi-Oscar winner, the film by Bong Joon-ho (Memories of Murder, Okja, Snowpiercer) is a breathtaking thriller and an acid critique of our current society and the class struggle that drives it. The writing is fine, the realization of a total mastery and the plot full of surprises and twists. One of the greatest films of recent years, and one that hasn’t usurped “masterpiece” status. From July 1 on Amazon Prime Video.
