Discover all the details of Prince Harry’s memoir

Prince Harry’s memoir will soon arrive in bookstores. Release date, title and publishing house in France, all the details were revealed on October 27, 2022. A highly anticipated book that promises to already be a worldwide success.

After months of speculation, it’s finally official. Prince Harry’s memoir, originally planned for the 2022 holiday season, will finally be published on January 10, 2023. Spare in the English version – which could be translated as eternal second in French – the confession book of the Duke of Sussex will be translated into 15 languages. The announcement was made by publisher Penguin Random House on October 27, 2022.

It is the Fayard publishing house which will publish in France, also from January 10, Harry’s memoirs, the title of which has been translated into French by The Substitute. In the process, the cover of the future bestseller with a portrait of the Duke of Sussex was unveiled at the same time as a dedicated site for pre-ordering the book.

explosive memories

Penguin Random House had announced the memoir project by King Charles’s youngest son on July 19, 2021. Harry’s book was co-authored by Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist JR Moehringer. “With raw and unvarnished honesty, The Alternate is a landmark book, full of insight, revelation, self-questioning, and hard-learned lessons about the eternal power of love in the face of grief,” the official statement read.

According to sources cited by the New York Times, the contract signed between Meghan and Hary and Penguin Random House would relate to “several books” the number of which has not yet been defined. The article of New York Times also recalls that the partnership was sealed before the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s shock interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021, during which they described the lack of support from the royal family and the racism that Meghan suffered .

From the summer of 2021, these memoirs were the subject of intense speculation in the publishing world and among royal commentators across the Channel. And despite Harry’s attempt to present his autobiography as a personal process, an “accurate and entirely truthful account of my life”, the announcement caused a wave of concern, particularly within “La Firme”.

The death of Elizabeth II, which occurred on September 8, 2022, further tarnished the image of an autobiography whose content remains a mystery. The accession to the throne of Charles III and the upcoming release of season 5 of The Crown, broadcast on November 9, 2022, are all events that could undermine the publication of this book in the form of a settling of accounts. Aware of the bad timing, Harry would have decided to resume his text after the death of his grandmother. According to a source reported by the magazine Page Six, “Harry wants to delete some passages that involve Elizabeth II, out of respect for her. In addition, he wishes to express his feelings about the death of the queen. Prince Harry and his publisher did not react to these rumors.

Harry will donate part of the proceeds

The fact remains that his book is about to be a huge success in bookstores. “Prince Harry wishes to support certain British charities by donating part of the proceeds generated by the sales of the Substitute”continues the publishing house.

The Duke of Sussex has already donated $1,500,000 to Sentebale, the organization he co-founded with Prince Seeiso in honor of their respective mothers which helps children and all young people in Lesotho and Botswana affected by AIDS. “Prince Harry will also donate £300,000 to the non-profit organization WellChild, which he has sponsored as a member of the Royal Family for fifteen years,” the statement said.

Penguin Random House is also the publisher of Michelle Obama’s book Become, today the best-selling of all time with 17 million copies worldwide. There is no doubt that Prince Harry’s is destined for a similar fate. Response in 2023.
