Cern's antimatter express: scientists transport particles by road in refrigerated truck

In a breakthrough experiment, physicists at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) have successfully transported antimatter across a 4km closed circuit using a refrigerated truck, defying the notion that such fragile particles can only be handled in ultra-high-tech labs.

The 20-minute journey involved 92 antiprotons encased in a 1-ton cryogenic container, requiring temperatures of -265°C and magnetic fields calibrated to a mere 20,000 times less than Earth's natural magnetic field. The truck's finely tuned equipment ensured the particles remained stable during transport.

This unconventional method, dubbed the 'STEP' project, aims to establish a 'scientific postal service' for delivering antimatter to research facilities across Europe, with potential transport times of up to 8 hours. If successful, antimatter could become a more accessible commodity, perhaps even available for purchase by the milligram on online marketplaces like Amazon in the future.
