Wwe 2k26 ringside pass overhaul: hours of grinding vanish

The endless grind to unlock wrestlers in WWE 2K26’s Ringside Pass is officially over. 2K Games has responded to widespread player frustration by fundamentally reshaping the pass system, promising immediate access to premium roster members and significantly reduced XP requirements. The shift, detailed in patch 1.07, marks a dramatic reversal from the initial launch where unlocking even a single icon demanded a substantial time investment – a change that left many longtime fans feeling shortchanged.

Instant access, reduced xp: a welcome shift

The core complaint centered around the new battle pass structure replacing the familiar six-DLC pack system. Players found themselves facing a daunting 40-tier climb, requiring dozens of hours of gameplay to unlock the very wrestlers they'd purchased through the Ringside Pass. Even premium tiers offered little reprieve, demanding considerable time commitments simply to access desired superstars. Now, however, the four characters featured on the Premium track of the pass will be instantly unlocked at Tier 1, effectively eliminating the tedious grind.

But the improvements don't stop there. 2K has also slashed the XP needed to progress through each tier from 800 to 625 – a figure the company assures won’t be increased moving forward. This streamlined progression promises a far more enjoyable and accessible experience for both casual and hardcore fans.

As a gesture of goodwill, players who logged in before April 14th will receive a generous 20 tiers worth of free XP to kickstart their progress through Season 1, featuring the AAA wrestling stars El Hijo Del Vikingo, Flammer, Mr. Iguana, and Psycho Clown. While this doesn't rewind the hours already spent by those who persevered through the initial system, it's a clear sign of 2K’s commitment to addressing player concerns.

Wrestlemania timing & future rosters

Wrestlemania timing & future rosters

The timing of the changes is particularly astute, arriving just weeks before WWE’s biggest event of the year, Wrestlemania, and coinciding with the release of Season 2 of WWE 2K26. This means fans eager to get their hands on the next wave of superstars – Ax, Smash, Crush, and Kelly Kelly – will have a much easier time doing so. Beyond Wrestlemania, the Ringside Pass will continue to deliver a steady stream of additions, including Season 3 (June) featuring Matt Cardona, Torrie Wilson, Brian Pillman, and La Parka; Season 4 (July) with Jeff Hardy, Matt Hardy, Jelly Roll, and Lady Shani; Season 5 (September) bringing Danhausen, Bam Bam Bigelow, Brie Bella, and Pagano; and Season 6 (October) showcasing Earthquake, Typhoon, Royce Keys, and Octagon Jr.

Each Ringside Pass season remains priced at $9.99/£8.99, with an annual pass available for $49.99/£44.99. The previous system, requiring significant time investment on top of that cost, understandably drew criticism. This overhaul, however, signals a renewed focus on player satisfaction and a commitment to delivering a more rewarding WWE 2K26 experience.
