Pearl Abyss detailed the changes on the game's website, outlining a range of fixes and adjustments. Players on PC can download the patch now via Steam, with availability on Xbox, Epic Games Store, and Mac App Store coming later. PlayStation players will receive the update in two parts, with the first patch (1.00.01) available immediately.
The update introduces a tutorial quest at the start of Chapter 3, designed to better explain the Abyss Gears mechanic. Usability has been improved for Housing mode, and the speed at which recently viewed cutscenes can be fast-forwarded has increased. Balance adjustments have been implemented for various boss encounters, including Reed Devil, and the bear’s instant-kill damage has been reduced.
Animation, lip-sync, and visual effects have undergone extensive refinement across NPCs and wildlife. Developers also addressed numerous localization errors and performance optimizations for both PC and consoles. However, some known issues persist, including occasional frame rate drops, problems with the Ultimate Weapon quest, and unresponsive controls in certain situations.
“We’re committed to providing a more stable and enjoyable gameplay experience for our players,” Pearl Abyss stated, acknowledging the ongoing efforts to resolve these remaining problems. The studio’s transparency regarding known issues is a welcome development.
Crimson Desert arrives with considerable hype, and this initial patch represents a crucial step in polishing the experience. Whether these adjustments will fully satisfy players remains to be seen, but the developers have clearly prioritized addressing key concerns.
