Nintendo switch 2 model gets removable battery in eu-friendly upgrade
Nintendo is gearing up to release an updated Switch 2 console with removable batteries, a move that aligns with Europe's 'right to repair' legislation.

Eu's battery rules mean easier replacements for consumers
The new Switch 2 model will come with fresh Joy-Con 2 controllers that allow users to swap out individual lithium-ion batteries, a feature long requested by gamers.
This design change caters specifically to Europe's 2023 'right to repair' law, which aims to give consumers more control over their devices' longevity by making repairs, including battery replacement, more accessible and affordable.
Nintendo is the latest major tech company to adapt to these regulations, following similar updates from PlayStation and Apple.
While the updated Switch 2 model is currently slated for a European release, Nintendo is keeping its options open for other regions should similar laws be implemented in the future.
