Nvidia GPU Prices Surge, Exceeding MSRP by Significant Margins

Just a couple weeks ago, I wrote about how Nvidia price increases were on the way. It seems like they’re here, and they’re not pretty.

Nvidia GPU Prices Jump Significantly

According to Tom’s Hardware, which has collected retailer data for all of Nvidia’s graphics cards, the median prices for pretty much every Team Green GPU are more expensive now than they were a couple of months ago. Top-end graphics cards like the RTX 5090 and 5080 have also gone up in price, but the biggest jumps were surprisingly in the mid-range.

RTX 5060 Ti and 5070 Price Increases

The median price for the RTX 5070 has gone up to $899, up 36% over its June median price of $659. The RTX 5060 Ti with 16GB is now up to $804.99, which is up 39% over its $569 June price. These GPUs are now 57% and 61% more expensive than their supposed launch prices, respectively. A quick look on Newegg shows the cheapest RTX 5060 Ti 16GB currently costs $779, for a basic MSI Shadow variant.

Broader Component Crisis Driving Up Costs

While previous GPU price jumps were often isolated, this increase is part of a broader component crisis. The Steam Machine launched at a super-high price in June, and the Xbox Series X and PS5 have also experienced price increases. This is largely due to increased memory demand from AI, and with all three memory manufacturers reportedly selling through their 2027 manufacturing capacity, prices aren’t expected to drop soon.
