Playstation yanks destruction allstars, live-service game shut down

In a surprise move, PlayStation has pulled the plug on Destruction AllStars, a live-service game that launched alongside the PS5 last year.

Game servers shut down without notice

Players were notified via PlayStation notifications that the game was no longer available for sale and its servers had been shut down, with no advance warning for fans to purchase the title or organize final online matches. Destruction AllStars' social media accounts, which had been dormant since 2022, provided no additional context.

The game, developed by Lucid Games, received a mixed reception. Despite being one of the first titles available for the PS5, early adopters largely rejected it, even after PlayStation Plus subscribers were gifted two free months of the game. Our review at the time noted that while Destruction AllStars had some enjoyable moments, such as the driving and vehicle-to-vehicle combat, the experience wore thin quickly and offered little else.
