Slay the spire 2 balances game, introduces phobia mode

Mega Crit, the developer behind the highly successful roguelike deckbuilder Slay the Spire 2, has outlined its first major post-launch update. The update, currently live on the game's beta branch, features a significant balance pass aimed at making infinite runs more challenging.

Changes abound

Among the many changes, all relics in the shop will now cost 25 gold less, relics that generate gold from the merchant have been removed, and epochs can no longer be acquired in Daily or Custom runs.

The update also clamps down on infinite stacking, with power values capped at 999,999,999. Furthermore, the Silent's Prepared card has been reworked, now reading: 'Discard 2 cards. Next turn, gain 2(3) Energy.'

Players are divided over the change, with some seeing it as a nerf to Silent's draw/discard strength, while others argue it's only one of three cards that draws and discards, and the nerf doesn't feel adequate.

The update also adds new portrait art for various cards and character-specific VFX for gaining energy. According to Mega Crit, the changes will come to the main branch later, likely with some additional tweaks.
