Without any manuals or instructions, the homeowner managed to track down the manufacturer, who identified the missing infrared receiver component as the culprit. Armed with this knowledge, they were able to fix the issue, only to encounter another problem - the steel cable supporting the TV lift had rusted and snapped during the second test.

Thanks to the manufacturer's assistance, the homeowner was able to replace the cable and get the TV lift functioning again. After nearly two years of living in the house, they finally uncovered the secret that had been hidden in plain sight.

As it turned out, the original TV was a 32-inch Samsung Series 4 from 2008 - a system now too outdated for modern use, but popular enough for the Melbourne branch of Samsung to provide support. However, the homeowner decided to part ways with the old TV and opted for a new exterior set, ultimately mounting a 37-inch monitor instead.
